National Fund for Our Houseless Neighbors: Women, Youth & Children
The experience of our houseless neighbors is especially difficult for women, youth, and children across the U.S. and are usually the result of domestic violence or trauma. For youth, involvement in the juvenile justice or child welfare systems, abuse, neglect, abandonment, and severe family conflict have all been found to be associated with experiencing homelessness. For women and children, the majority are a result of domestic violence, and the support systems are overwhelmed. This fund supports our houseless neighbors with solutions and long-term care and systems change with wraparound services.
Why Now: There’s an estimated 4.2 million youth and young adults experience homelessness, with youth who identify as BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ experiencing the highest rates of homelessness. At the same time, few, if any, interventions exist in most communities to prevent, not just mitigate, youth and young adult homelessness.
Organizations our fund is supporting:
- Point Source Youth
- The National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY)
- Women’s Empowerment
We thank you for your contributions.
