National Fund for Media Literacy, Voter Rights, and Civic Engagement
With more disinformation than ever and with an election year cycle, our democracy in the U.S. is at risk. These organizations promote civic education, and voter rights, and media literacy.
Why Now: Vote.org runs the largest nonpartisan GOTV efforts in the United States proactively targeting young voters and voters of color. In 2022, we reached voters nearly 270 million times using a variety of research-backed tactics, including sending 40 million unique messages to voters. Citizen University design gatherings, rituals, and workshops for people who are searching for new ways to strengthen civic culture in their hometown. Their programs serve as civic catalysts to explore ideas (like power + character = citizenship), pick up new tools, develop connections, and build a renewed sense of civic spirit. As the leading voice, convener, and resource for media literacy education, NAMLE aims to make media literacy highly valued and widely practiced as an essential life skill.
